Osteopathy is a holistic form of manual medicine. It is suitable for treatment during pregnancy, and from infancy through to senior age.
Osteopathy is based on the premise that the structure of the body affects the way that the body is able to function.
The goal of osteopathic treatment is that the body may be freed of structural restriction. It may then be enabled to self-heal and function unhindered as a holistic unit, to its optimum ability.
Francia embraces all models of osteopathy. She aims to employ techniques most suited to the needs of the individual, ensuring that each patient has an understanding of, and is comfortable with, the methods employed. She has a particular interest in Osteopathy in the Cranial Field.
How does Osteopathy work?
A range of techniques is used to diagnose and treat structural restrictions: addressing the skeleton and joints, muscles and connective tissue, nerves and circulation, and internal organs, as appropriate.
Osteopathy offers a repertoire of techniques including: articulation of joints; balancing techniques, such as of ligaments; massage of the soft tissues (muscles, tendons and ligaments) and stretching.
